Service Description
WHAT IS CABARET? Some would call it a concert with no dress code. We would add, the art of cabaret is connecting music to the audience through a wide variety of singing styles that dares performers to reinterpret, personalize, combine, separate, capsize and re-imagine music. Performed in small rooms that permit a sense of intimate exchange with the audience, it’s less a genre than an approach – a risky closeness to the material and the audience. The number of singers varies from 1-6 in a show and they are most commonly backed by a ‘jazz trio’ (piano, bass, drums). Regardless of the definition, it’s a whole lot of fun! Lyric Lab is a complete performance workshop, where you learn skills needed to be a well-rounded, confident performer - on the stage and in life. In a nurturing atmosphere, the Lyric Lab offers you the perfect opportunity to learn the art of cabaret, jazz, improvising, opera and public speaking from professionals who have performed all over the world and are still working today. *Payment for full course is $525 by credit card or check if paid in advance. **Alternative daily rate of $90 in cash or check due at the beginning of each class is available with prior approval by director.
