SHAWN HELLER | NINO ROTA REIMAGINED

Lone Star Lyric, Houston’s premiere boutique lyric theater and cabaret company has a new series called LSL SESSIONS.  We're opening up our Lyric Lounge to feature Houston artists with their own musical projects.  Come on into our 'living room' enjoying a cocktail by the fire, painted by Jim Elliott's moody lighting and experience music in a very personal way.  It's a one-night-only event but if you ask, we'll do it again!​

Pianist and arranger Shawn Heller has put together a delicious program of works by Nino Rota. Heller will be joined by musical friends & colleagues to bring this rich music back to life on an intimate stage. They will present concert music such as the Suite del Casanova di Federico Fellini, Preludes for Piano, Variations on the Name of B-A-C-H as well as vocal works inspired by the film scores from The Godfather, La Dolce Vita, and many others.

The music of Nino Rota, to choose just one word, is timeless. His music spans many genres and moods, as the music of a good film composer should. But Rota was more than a film composer: He was an accomplished concert composer as well. Join us for a chance to hear both his concert music and music inspired from his film scores in an intimate concert setting.
