LSL Productions, (*debut) Follies Concert Version* During his 45-year international opera career, Joseph Evans has appeared as leading tenor at La Scala, Ireland's Wexford Festival, the English National Opera, Welsh National Opera, the Opera de Nantes, Opéra d'Orléans, Toulouse, Opéra National de Lorraine in Nancy, La Fenice in Venice, Hong Kong, Tokyo, and the Grand Theatre de Genève. In the United States, he has sung leading tenor roles during eight seasons with the New York City Opera, 16 productions with the Houston Grand Opera, 32 productions with the Opera Company of Boston, with multiple performances in San Diego, Seattle, Pittsburgh, Palm Beach, and Cleveland. Concert appearances as featured tenor soloist include the New York Philharmonic, the Tokyo Philharmonic, Tokyo Metropolitan Orchestra, the Cleveland Orchestra, Atlanta, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, the Orchestre L'Ile de France in Paris and the Radio-Symphonie of Berlin. Earlier in his career Mr. Evans appeared in more than two dozen musical theater summer stock productions. He has been stage director with the Palm Beach, Austin, Cleveland, Shreveport, and Amarillo opera companies. 28 professional opera and concert recordings have been released by Sony Classics, CBS Masterworks, Cybellia, Gasparo, Naxos, Vai, and Albany labels. Dr. Aidan Smerud is an active performer in the Houston area, appearing regularly with sacred ensembles, universities, and professional opera and musical theatre companies. He most recently performed with Opera in the Heights as the title character in Don Pasquale, Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor and Sparafucile in Rigoletto. In addition to his performing career, Aidan serves as Director of the School of Fine Arts at West University Methodist Church, where he oversees programming, faculty, and community engagement initiatives. He also teaches at the University of Houston and Lone Star College, instructing courses in musicology and vocal studies. His teaching and administrative work are grounded in a commitment to artistic excellence, vocal health, and meaningful musical experiences for students of all ages. Among his favorite performing credits are Dr. Dulcamara in L’elisir d’amore, Rucker Lattimore in Cold Sassy Tree, and Emile deBecque in South Pacific, roles that reflect his appreciation for character-driven repertoire across opera and musical theatre.
