Lone Star Lyric marks the dazzling culmination of its 20th anniversary season with FOLLIES (Concert Version)—a star-studded gala evening of glamour, memory, music, and theatrical splendor.

In the haunting elegance of a once-grand theater, a legendary impresario reunites the luminous stars of his past: showgirls, romantics, dreamers, and lost loves gathered for one last celebration. As the evening unfolds, so do the melodies, memories, and long-buried truths of lives lived in—and beyond—the spotlight.

 

Featuring Stephen Sondheim’s unforgettable songs, including “Losing My Mind,” “I’m Still Here,” and “Broadway Baby,” this exclusive concert event brings together an extraordinary company of seasoned performers, with cameo performances by Joey Evans, Melanie Sonnenberg, Buck Ross, and Houston’s own, Christina Wells, alongside veteran LSL artists.

Presented in the historic Doc’s Jazz Club—formerly the iconic Tower Theater—this gala experience extends far beyond the performance. Guests will enjoy a chef-created menu, expertly crafted cocktails, and an atmosphere rich with artistry, elegance, and celebration.

On behalf of our Board of Directors and extraordinary performing artists, welcome to Lone Star Lyric’s 20th Anniversary celebration!

​

Since 2006, Lone Star Lyric has brought Houston intimate, innovative lyric theater—rediscovering overlooked treasures while championing works by living American composers.

​

This season featured our popular cabaret and jazz concerts at Ovations Night Club and Doc’s Jazz Club, the launch of Lyric Lounge Sessions with the Ermelinda Cuellar Quintet, three LYRIC LAB workshops, and the regional premiere of Stephen Schwartz’s SÉANCE ON A WET AFTERNOON, with a new orchestration by Robert Hunt created in collaboration with the composer.

Tonight, we close our anniversary season with Stephen Sondheim’s FOLLIES—a glittering reunion filled with iconic songs, a magnificent 11-piece orchestra conducted by Rob Hunt, special guest artists, and veteran Lone Star Lyric performers.
